A Roaring Twenties Good Time Celebrating 20 Years of Impact at the 15th Annual Charity Auction & Dinner

Urban Youth Impact hosted its 15th Annual Charity Auction & Dinner on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Cohen Pavilion at The Kravis Center. The event was held to benefit the nonprofit with funds going towards children and youth in the inner-city that provides after-school programs, camps and further development of outreach sites in Palm Beach County.

More than 150 guests and sponsors were dressed in a Roaring Twenties theme with wing tips, top hats, gold fringe dresses, and pearls in celebration of 20 years of impact. Urban Youth Impact (UYI) is celebrating 20 years of loving, equipping and empowering inner-city youth and their parents to fulfill their God-given purpose in order to reverse the troubling trends of school dropouts, juvenile crime, and teen pregnancy.

Urban Youth Impact Board of Director Co-chairmen Tim Miller, C.F.O. of TBC Corporation and Richard Porter, President/CEO of Advocates in Manpower Management, Inc.  encouraged the audience to help reverse the troubling trends of the inner-city by supporting UYI programs.

The party began with a 1920s inspired signature drink and hors d’oeuvres as guests bid on more than 50 silent auction items. The highlight of the evening was seeing Urban Youth Impact’s SMART Program Hip Hop dancers perform a 1920s dance, Teryl Brooks ReFrame student performance of “Rise Up” and the many kids who showcased their artwork. Bill Hobbs, UYI President & Founder, opened the evening with an inspiring invocation. As dinner was being served, a thrilling live auction with Auctioneer Neil Saffer got the audience bidding for items such as a Private Party at the International Polo Club Palm Beach, a Golf Package, a trip to South Africa and the most fun was the Giant Ice Cream Sundae ‘Martini’.

Through sponsorships, participation in the silent and live auctions, and donations for the “Bid from the Heart”, the 150+ attendees gave more than $218,000 to support the programs and services that change the outcome of children and families living in the inner city.
