UYI President/CEO Chris Tress: Living Out Our Core Values

Updated: Jan 31, 2020

Urban Youth Impact is dedicated to establishing a kingdom work culture amongst our staff. Our core values drive the culture we are creating. Our core values are ‘We own nothing’, ‘We ‘own’ it, we are ambitious for the mission and the team, we learn to grow, and we give our best. We believe in using our core values as a guideline corporately as a staff.

Chris Tress, the President and Pastor of Bow Down Church believes it is important to be spiritually equipped here at Urban Youth Impact to serve our children effectively. Ephesians 4:12 says “to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.” As a faith-based organization we take great pride in dedicating time for our staff to come together to hear bible teachings from Chris and discuss different perspectives along with a variety of topics that challenge our world views.

The vision for all staff is to become more and more like Christ as Paul has called us to do in Galatians 4:19 “. Therefore, we commit to meeting every Tuesday and to learn practical ways of implementing biblical principles in the work place as well as our personal lives.

Chris remains steadfast in creating a culture of oneness that embodies the spirit of Christ’s Kingdom Culture through delivering a message at the beginning of each session. Once all have received the message for/of that day, the staff then breaks out into small groups, which we like to call ‘pods’, to discuss and reflect on the teaching. The pods are designed to provide a safe space to express different perspectives and views on the topic given, along with a list of thought provoking questions.

As we love, equip, and empower the community that we serve, our priority will continue to be one that promotes the importance of spiritual enrichment among our students and staff.
